| Product | Cleaning approach | Documented litter requirement | Cat-weight guidance | A practical consideration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Whisker Litter-Robot 4 | Automatic sifting | Clumping or scoopable litter, subject to manufacturer exclusions | 1.36–11.33 kg | Check your chosen bundle’s contents; the source below describes the UK Basics Bundle. Whisker source |
| PetSafe ScoopFree SmartSpin | Rotating sifter | Clumping litter recommended | Up to 11 kg; check the manual for other operating restrictions | A 6 L waste drawer and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi app connection. PetSafe source |
| PetSafe ScoopFree Clumping | Detachable metal rake | Clumping litter recommended | Not documented in the reviewed specification record | Check the manufacturer’s operating guidance before buying for a young or lightweight cat. PetSafe source |
| PETKIT Purobot Crystal Duo | Open-top automatic box | PETKIT Crystal Litter Set only | Over 1.5 kg; the manufacturer FAQ excludes kittens younger than six months | A specific litter system and a camera, with 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi. PETKIT source |
| PETKIT Purobot Ultra | Rotating cylinder | Clumping clay, tofu or mixed litter within the manufacturer’s particle-size limits | 1.5–10 kg; minimum recommended age six months | A 10 L waste bin, camera and proprietary waste-bag refill rings. PETKIT source |
These are documented specifications, not comparative performance scores. Drawer volume and cylinder volume describe different components; neither establishes how long your household can go between cleaning tasks.

Whisker Litter-Robot 4
Consider the Litter-Robot 4 if you want automatic sifting with the Whisker app and your chosen litter meets the manufacturer’s requirements. Whisker documents a 40 × 40 cm entryway and a 56 × 68.6 cm footprint. Those measurements help you check the available space; the opening size is not an entrance-height measurement. Manufacturer specifications
The source is Whisker’s UK Basics Bundle. Our catalogue listing is the Beginner Bundle in white. Do not assume the accessory quantities, extended warranty, trial or fulfilment terms of one offer apply to the other. Confirm the contents and terms of the offer you intend to buy.

PetSafe ScoopFree SmartSpin
The SmartSpin is an option for readers who prefer clumping litter and want app access to documented usage information. PetSafe specifies a rotating sifter, a 6 L waste drawer and a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection through the PetSafe Pet Companion app. Manufacturer specifications
Check that your home network provides the required Wi-Fi band. App records and weight-change information do not establish a diagnosis. Do not plan your cleaning schedule around a generic “hands-free” duration: inspect the drawer and follow the manufacturer’s upkeep guidance for your household.

PetSafe ScoopFree Clumping
Consider the ScoopFree Clumping if you prefer a metal-rake mechanism. PetSafe documents a detachable rake, plug-in power and a covered removable waste bin, with clumping litter recommended. It is a different mechanism from SmartSpin’s rotating sifter. Manufacturer specifications
The reviewed record does not document a cat-weight range. Do not treat that missing value as permission for unrestricted kitten use. Check the operating instructions and the actual product dimensions before deciding whether it suits your cat and the intended location.

PETKIT Purobot Crystal Duo
The Crystal Duo is worth comparing if your cat accepts the PETKIT Crystal Litter Set and you want an open-top automatic box with a camera. The documented dimensions are 818 × 507 × 334 mm, with a 180 mm entrance height and 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi. The manufacturer specifies the PETKIT Crystal Litter Set only. Manufacturer specifications
That litter requirement is a practical constraint, not a minor accessory choice. Do not substitute ordinary clumping litter or assume the manufacturer page’s four-refill offer is included in the affiliate offer. Check the exact contents and replacement-litter requirements before purchase. The recorded minimum weight is over 1.5 kg, and the manufacturer FAQ excludes kittens younger than six months.

PETKIT Purobot Ultra
The Ultra combines a rotating cylinder, camera and waste-packing system. PETKIT specifies a 10 L waste bin, a 70 L cylinder, 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi and supported cat weights of 1.5–10 kg. Its documented dimensions are 532 × 818 × 612 mm. Manufacturer specifications
The waste-packing system requires PETKIT refill rings; the manufacturer does not support generic bags for this system. You must be beside the device to remove the sealed bag and start bag replacement. Check whether those steps and consumables suit your routine. The camera is a monitoring feature; this comparison makes no medical-diagnosis or guaranteed-safety claim.

Check the fit before buying
Use this checklist to narrow the options rather than choosing by the largest list of features:
- Litter: match the exact litter requirement to what your cat accepts. Crystal Duo requires its own Crystal Litter Set; the other choices have different documented clumping-litter guidance.
- Cat limits: check the manufacturer’s age, weight and automatic-mode instructions. A missing limit in our reviewed record means you need to check the manual.
- Space and entrance: measure the location and compare it with the product’s footprint and entrance. Do not assume a lower entrance guarantees suitability for a cat with mobility difficulties.
- Connectivity: check the specified Wi-Fi band if you plan to use the app. Decide whether you want a camera and review its controls and storage requirements.
- Upkeep: allow for emptying waste, cleaning accessible parts and replacing the required consumables. An automatic cleaning cycle does not eliminate maintenance.

Understand consumables and running costs
Crystal Duo requires the PETKIT Crystal Litter Set, while Ultra’s waste-packing system requires PETKIT refill rings. Check replacement supplies before choosing either system. For each product, read the manufacturer’s litter and maintenance guidance, then check the chosen retailer’s actual offer. Crystal Duo requirements · Ultra requirements
This guide does not publish static Amazon prices, estimated monthly bills or guaranteed replacement intervals. The amount you spend depends on the supplies required, the current offer and household use.

Questions to resolve before choosing
Can a kitten use one of these boxes?
Check the exact model’s age, weight and operating-mode instructions. Do not infer that all five products have the same requirements or that a special mode overrides a manufacturer exclusion. The table links to the documented guidance; where a limit is missing, confirm it with the manufacturer before purchase.
Check the cat-weight guidance in the comparison
Can I use my current litter?
Only if it meets the chosen model’s requirements. Crystal Duo requires the PETKIT Crystal Litter Set. The other listed products have specific clumping-litter guidance. Do not assume any of the products accepts every type of pellet, crystal or non-clumping litter.
Which product is the best overall?
This guide does not establish an overall winner. Shortlist products whose documented litter, cat limits, size, connectivity and upkeep fit your needs. Manufacturer specifications do not prove that one model performs better in your home.
How this guide was prepared
Vlad produced the draft based on his personal experience testing all five products and on manufacturer documentation. Product specifications and operating limits are checked against the official manufacturer sources linked in this guide.
The review date records the latest editorial review; it does not promise current retailer prices, availability or unchanged manufacturer terms. The five choices are a catalogue subset, not the entire market. Our other four listed products remain available in the shop.
